How to Use:

A very small amount of Black turmeric powder (1-2 gms, spoon provided in the pack), can be soaked for 4 - 8 hours (or overnight) in a cup of water, bring to a boil, seive, add a pinch of black pepper and drink. Can add honey for taste.

Black Turmeric (Curcuma caesia) is a rare medicinal plant belonging to the ginger family. Unlike regular yellow turmeric, it has a dark bluish-black rhizome and is valued for its higher antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains bioactive compounds similar to curcumin but with additional phytochemicals that support respiratory, digestive, and immunity health.

Black turmeric offers multi-functional wellness support:

  • Powerful antioxidant protection helps reduce oxidative stress
  • Anti-inflammatory effects relieve joint pain and swelling
  • Antimicrobial action helps fight bacteria, fungi & viruses
  • Respiratory support traditionally used for asthma & bronchitis
  • Natural wound healing due to antiseptic properties
  • Digestive relief including stomach discomfort & cramps

For general wellness, 1–2 grams per day is recommended. It is best taken with:

Warm water or milk
✔ A pinch of black pepper, which contains piperine—known to increase curcumin absorption in the body

It can also be added to teas, smoothies, or herbal kadha formulations.

When used in recommended quantities, it is considered safe. However, high doses may burden the liver or cause digestive irritation in some people. People with liver concerns should monitor usage carefully.

Yes. The natural anti-inflammatory compounds in Black turmeric help reduce swelling, stiffness, and pain — especially in arthritis, muscular stress, and injury-related inflammation. It works as a natural analgesic and is used in both internal and external applications

Yes, consider the following:

⚠ Those with liver disease, bleeding disorders, or gallbladder issues should consult a healthcare professional before use.
⚠ It may interact with blood thinners and immunosuppressants.
⚠ Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid it due to limited safety research.

Preliminary research suggests its bioactive compounds may help restrict the growth of harmful cells and lower oxidative stress in the body. Although encouraging, further clinical studies are needed to confirm its use in cancer care.

Key Benefits of Potent Compounds:

  • Camphor (0.5-1.5%): Gives it strong aroma and medicinal action (anti-inflammatory, decongestant, anti-spasmodic, anti-fungal, analgesic)
  • Curcumin (1–3%): Like yellow turmeric but usually less concentrated (anti-inflammatory, anti oxidant, anti-cancer, neuroprotective, anti-arthritic).
  • Turmerones (α/β-0.5-2 %): Anti-inflammatory, anti-asthamatic, neuroprotective, antioxidant and potential anticancer properties.
  • Flavonoids and phenols (1–3%): Antioxidant (ORAC value - 159,277 μmol TE/100 g), antimicrobial.
  • Anthocyanin-like pigments: Responsible for dark color and rare antioxidant activity.
